I Can't Sleep Poem by Isla Bolin

I Can't Sleep

Rating: 5.0

I can't sleep
I twist and I turn
I count sheep
Close your eyes
They say
Stop thinking
They say
But I can't
I try and I try
Shut up
I tell my racing brain
But it won't
It just won't
So I don't
I just don't sleep
And when the morning comes
My eyes still open
Small little yawns is all I can say
I get criticized
Go to sleep earlier
My mom says
Don't stay up so late
My friends say
Just close your eyes
My Teacher says
I try I plead
I try I beg
But nobody listens
My "excuses" turned away
So I suck it up
I pretend to listen
While my brain sleeps now
Convenient I know

'My 'excuses' turned away': I THINK you 'want' 'are' before 'turned'. Right? ? Even without punctuation, this poem, for me, was understandable and flowed very well. 'Convenient I know'? Is it a complete thought? And I'd leave one line blank just before this one.
