I Pledge Poem by Ejalonibu Abraham

I Pledge

There is light in the mess of darkness
Still hope in the face of despair
Emerald ferns kindness can still
Flies in the sky of bitterness,
The resemblance of can still arise
In the silhouette of the death.

The black blood runny on the face of the Ancestors
I pledge to my black people
To develop my body and soul
To be strong in spirit
To be the greatest breadth feasible,
I pledge to strive for autonomy
Of generations to show up
To give them a new life,
I pledge with my life.
