If Change I Do Poem by Mark Heathcote

If Change I Do

Let me unbridle myself entirely
break free from these chains and bonds.
Let me lean on my wings and fly westerly
on a breeze, and let my heart abscond-

And leave the past and find true meaning.
Let me disperse like a fog, a mist
and discover a rainbow still beaming
let me fall in love and with my heart enlist-

In all these social galas where I might shine
let the relics of the past burn charcoal
for I am a kaleidoscope, a picture divine
if change I do, it's for the better, not to startle you.
