If I Could Poem by James Walter Orr

If I Could

If I could have dreamed,
What I dreamed that I dreamed,
When I dreamed
We were having a ball,

I would never have said,
What I said when I said,
What I said,
When my pride took that fall.

I sure never felt,
What you felt that I felt,
When I felt
I was standing so tall.

I sure never said,
What they said that I said,
For they said
It to make me feel small.

I surely do wish,
You would wish what I wish,
For I wish
You would answer my call.

How I wish that I had,
What I had, when I had
What I had,
When I still had it all.
