If I Could Write A Cloud Poem by John Lyday

If I Could Write A Cloud

I want to write a poem
light and fluffy,
with the texture of a cloud,
not dark and ominous,
full of rain and thunder,
but airy with cartoon
figures floating gently,
softly changing,
quietly interweaving
against a clear blue sky.

I could reach out and hold
it, billowing
mystical mists slightly
obscuring the brightest vision
with it's cool clean touch
caressing, cajoling,
sweeping you into its fantasy
realm above the hard
clear earth
in the furry heavens above.
