If I Was To Poem by norman hale

If I Was To

If I was to
Come to you with roses in hand
Would you return some love
Or fill my face with dirt and sand

If I was to
Come knocking upon your door
Would you greet me with a kiss
Or tell me you don't love me anymore

If I was to
Steal a kiss or two from you
Would you sweetly return it
Or slap, me and call me a love sick fool

If I was to
Snatch your hand up in a scoop
Knelt there on one knee, would you wait
Or just simply knock me for a loop

If I was to
Tell you 'You are my one and only'
Would you tell me to get lost
For I only deserve to be lonely

If I was to
Tell you 'You will always have my heart'
Would you give me yours too
Or say 'It's about time, that we part'

If I was to
Cry, beg, and plead
Would you finally give in
Or leave me for my heart to bleed

If I was to
Find a way, to show you all my love
Would you finally see and accept it
Or look at me funny, then give me a shove

If I was to
Accidently say 'I love you ' in a belch
Would you start laughing like it was cute
Or tell me I need to find some help

If I was to
Tell you 'My love for you, is sound and well'
Would you say 'yeh whatever'
Or would you say you found someone else

If I was to
Give up and turn around to leave
Would you just let me go
Or pull me back into your arms, by my sleeve

If I was to
Show you, how true love was meant to be
Would you just say I was crazy
Or show me how much you love me

If I was to
Give you my heart on valentines day
Would you tell me I must leave
Or grab me by the hand, and ask me to stay
