In Spite Of

gunfire...
artillery shells,
tanks, soldiers on foot....

the assault continues,
wave upon wave,
the assault on free speech,

free thought, free interaction....
the draining of blood
from the face of humanity....

the theft of name and identity....
the bartering of souls....
for change, against change....

yet the fire remains lit,
........in spite of!
