It Was When I Felt Really Low, A Rock Bottom Poem by Dave Sherratt

It Was When I Felt Really Low, A Rock Bottom

So Far…..So Good….So What?

I feel like the child that has been smacked tonight
I feel like the boxer about to lose the fight
I feel like the copse that now doesn't care
I feel like I'm running but getting nowhere
I'm the darkest side of bright
I ain't got a guiding light
I'm meaningless, I'm nothing
Just a zombie pointlessly walking
I want to smash the mirror into my face
So I can't see me. I'm a disgrace.
Then I won't see any pain
That shows in my eyes…….Ever again
It's a blackened soul. A wounded psyche
Punctured with a jagged knife
Please chat to angels but not to me
As I can't whisper, Its just a scream
Did I die in a dream,
Killed by a red hot laser beam?
Quick question.. Tell me would you miss
Company, fun or the kiss?
Seems my sadness just grows
Composted by blossoming woe
Please.. Don't judge..or yell at me
I'm just the shell…..Please leave me be…
