Lazy Ambition Poem by Timothy Weiermann

Lazy Ambition

Rating: 4.5

Lazy ambition
Eyes half closed, watching the clouds
Life escaping me

Loveless mind, blank light
Effort expended not worth
Not worth the effort

Shadow of a soul
I leave myself behind with
With nobody near

Lifeless dead shadows
Nearing the death of my life
Lazy ambition

I like the contradictions and the contrast here. Ambitious but lazy, the death of my life, etc. Walt Whitman, to paraphrase, said that if we find contradictions in his poetry that it's because he contains multitudes. You have a strong control of language and some equally powerful images and thoughts. I personally think that the ability to write poetry is one of the greatest gifts we could possibly have and among the few things that make life on this earth bearable. Good work. Let's see plenty more.
