I hear the voice of Genesis
speaking words of creation…

Let it be – light, shine in darkness,
Let it be – waters, be restrained.
Let it be - water, land and sky,
Let it be - plants and trees ordained.

I hear the voice of sovereign God
speaking words of foundation …

Let it be – sun, moon and stars, shine,
Let it be – fish and birds contained
Let it be – land animals move,
Let it be – man – I give you rein.

And then I hear a guarded voice
it may be speaking out of spite…

And can it be, you shall not eat?
And can it be, you will not die.
And can it be, know good from bad,
And can it be, eat and be wise.

I hear the voice of woman
It’s Eve, she speaks with certainty…

I will be pleased, it looks so good,
I will be kind for I will share.
I will be smart with open eyes,
I will be good seems only fair.

Thus did begin the darkest hour
thus did return the cloudy night.
Thus did begin the broken heart.
but God had the answer in mind.

Give it time – I’ll send my Son
Give it time – his blood sacrifice
Give it time – unselfish grace
Give it time – the way to Paradise.

Give it time – I’ll send my Spirit
Give it time – He’ll show them how
Give it time – my mercy given
Give it time – my solemn vow.

When you find yourself in trouble
God is the answer, give Him your time.
