Lifeless Poem by Joanne Kearsey

Lifeless

Facing the world with your soul stripped bare
Coming forth into a world full of mystery
Believing in something that isn't real until now
As it is the only thing left to see

The blood from your veins rushes to the floor
Your heart pumping the impurities out that caused this pain
Rules are bending to suit your murderous life
As you will never see the light of day again

Scratching at the rash that has taken control
Voodoo preventing you from a premature death today
Talking to the people you know but don't recognise
As your presence in this world has already faded away

Deprived of the things you need the most
As life has gotten overwhelming and too much for you to handle
Slipping away to the place that you feel safe in
And the only light you have is the light from a single candle

Standing alone in a place that is moving so fast around you
Shattered by the lies of those on higher ground
Longing to lash out and have everyone pay attention to you
But still no one hears a single sound

Losing control of what you had power over
Gaining control over what was never real
Reality becoming a dream and a dream becoming reality
As there is no one else one is left to feel

Taking away the will that was given to you
Giving back what you received over the years
Collateral damage counted up until the world is destroyed
as you hide behind these uncontrollable fears

An enjoyable poem Joanne, we all have our demons and the writing does bring relief, keep up the good work: -)
