Lost My Voice in New York City Poem by Leonard Cohen

Lost My Voice in New York City

Rating: 4.8

Lost my voice in New York City
never heard it again after sixty-seven
Now I talk like you
Now I sing like you
Cigarette and coffee to make me sick
Couple of families to make me think
Going to see my lawyer
Going to read my mail
Lost my voice in New York City
Guess you always knew

I know him too well, I have known him too finest, I knew him so true. Gone to ashes now, but I still hear him in the songs that oft inspired me to tears, his voice is unforgettable, his words undescribable like zhen, like then in NY City. CONGRATULATIONS to the loved family of Leonard Cohen is the zhen...............................of Music and Word

Such voices don't go anywhere. They keep coming back again and again to enlighten people who are lost in the urban wilderness.

A wonderful introspective poem that is quite thought provoking too. Well deserved modern poem of the day.

Great poem. The attrection and their own needs have taken many to big cities only to realize how easy it is to lose oneself there. our voice, our identity lost so quickly.

Leonard Cohen, my favourite poet. There's so much in this poem. To me his poems are like no other. In truth Mr Cohen will never lose his voice. Never.

Guess you always knew................YES, indeed, I always knew that YOU are the best songwriter I have known, even Dyllan can't compete, but now I am talking to tow dead poets, how so? That is because of the coronavirus pandemic! Have I become mad? of course NOT! But I have become a tiny bit more artistic, being a fan of Leonard Cohen.Short but your innervouice is always beautiful, Leonard! R.I.P. CONGRATULATIONS TheModern
