Love Of The Rhyme Poem by Michelle Sam

Love Of The Rhyme

I love to write my poems with words that have mirror ends in my mind
Words that make your mouth twist in iambic poses of melodies sublime
Carrying echoes of feelings that have traveled a path to a creative kind
Weaving sentences together and burying them softly between the lines

I love how my spirit veraciously speaks through type, pencil or ink pen
Words spring forth over my screen or paper, voicing my thoughts within
Singing a colloquial lullaby where a poets lexicon and ambiance are kin
My hearts desires and fears are expressed outwardly, then carried in the wind

I love how my words come together to convey my souls contentment or dis- thereof
They form wings on paper flying over mountains of my stresses and successes above
Phrases occupying the clouds of my intellect with great abandon of desires, and love
Fleeting thoughts gracefully assemble a beautiful poem without coaxing or a shove

I love Dr. Seuss whose genius use of lyrical verbiages gave me artful limbs to climb
Writing, then reading the fruits of my creative labor, forever immortalized in time
My ears tingle to the gumbo of alliteration that I feel is both transcendental and prime
So I'll keep writing couplets with that special ending beat, because of my love of the rhyme
