Love opened his arms, he welcomed me
Into that warm embrace
But it wasn't enough, not enough for me
I was still part of the race.
I slipped through the fingers, running solidly
Into the darkness ahead.
I didn't look around me
I didn't see my feet
Just days ahead of dread.
Love opened his arms, he welcomed me
Even though I scoffed
He remained there, he took away the fear
He showed he cared.
Yes, love opened his arms, welcomed me into the embrace
The warmth of that love
And I cling on still
With all my might
Thanking the Lord above.

It's such a beautiful and delicate poem! It radiates so much love, light and warmth. It's something one must read with the open heart, because the wordsthat shaped it came from the heart. Thank you so much for writing it. I'm rating it a 10!
he took away the fear He showed he cared. Yes, love opened his arms, welcomed me into the embrace.. i hold on to that beloved experience. thanking always the Lord above...... uniting a love experience to God Almighty is something great.. and it shows your attitudes which are divine. thank you dear poetess. tony
Heartiest Congrats on the member Poem of the Day as also for composing such a beautiful poem with deep meaning given by love to life itself.
A touching poem expressing mixed human feelings, on one hand grief on a big loss, on the other love asking the human to live for love, as love is immortal, it never dies just changes it's shape.
The poet's note explains a lot and makes the poem so much easier to understand. Thank you for that, and congratulations on poem of the day!

Thank you for poet's note! ! Husbands or husband's OR husbands'? Lucky you. Maybe I should have met a guy like that? But, NO! I settled for women, who we all know only take and never give....except more grief. (Kidding of course; Della is probably a different kind of woman from what I've usually experienced.) Bri :)
