Lull Me To Sleep Poem by Valsa George

Lull Me To Sleep

Rating: 5.0

I have toiled all day long
Now I want to lay my head
Rest my body in serene peace
As to the world I am dead

Having finished my tasks for the day
With a heart full of content
And clear cut plans for tomorrow
Let me joyfully retire to my tent

Casting away all weariness
In the stillness of this quiet night
As I get ready for a night's rest
The vision of a new day fills my spirit

I see my bed lying neatly laid
My eyelids have begun to droop
Oh come gentle sleep and lift me up
To heaven's height from where I would peep

On wings of dreams let me fly
Over mountains high and valleys low
Winding rivers n' rippling streams
Buoyed by breeze which gently blow

Let me float as an invisible spirit
In the calming stillness of this celestial night
Listen to the songs that angels sing
Where darkness, allayed by heavenly light

What else can the great mind of a poet do after wandering for a whole day? What else can be done after the Professor has discharged her duties diligently and has laid plans for the next day? What else can be done after one has enjoyed a whole day? .......Nothing but have a night of peaceful sleep. This is stunning and soft, well done!

When the day is done By the set of sun When the night gently creep To take you on a dream trip To wander into the world of wonder Into the world of peaceful slumber Oh, what a prized rest From heaven's treasure chest! It's my thank you to your lovely poem.
