Maintaining Mental Maintenance Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Maintaining Mental Maintenance

Maintaining to obtain,
One's mental maintenance.
Takes a change of life.
To completely examine,
And done to do to overhaul...
Thoughts from the past.
With beliefs kept to have.
About what our ancestors did.
To appreciate the doing.
But making attempts to relive,
Their lives lived and events...
Keeps steps taken to move,
Them forward.
Will need one to evaluate,
Which is more beneficial.
Whether to nostalgically,
Celebrate...
A doing to revisit the past had,
On a daily basis.
Or a letting go to know...
No one who has lived,
To pass on.
Leaving behind,
All from them to have gone.
Should be a clue to anyone,
That time to witness it...
Has yet to stop.
From moving forward.
To introduce something new.
Regardless who refuses,
Or hesitates procrastinating...
Reality to accept it or not.
And maintaining,
One's mental maintenance...
Done to do to adapt to change,
Should be a priority.
Kept to keep up with times,
No one can debate to believe...
Their way of life to live as is,
Will stay if they pray...
To God.
With a making them,
Identifiable exceptions.
And this wish to want granted.

'You look so young.
What have you done? '

'A complete overhaul,
Of my mental process.
And less to spend,
My time in a gym.'

'Sounds great to me.
And what is that,
You have on your face? '

'Moisturizer.'

'Moisturizer? '

'Yes.
I was told it will benefit,
Maintaining to keep...
Improving upon,
My mental maintenance.
And here you are,
Boosting my self confidence.'

'Confidence to have it,
Comes from the inside out.'

'I know that.
But I decided,
What was being shown to see...
On the outside.
Was in need,
Of applied assistance.
And...
I began to notice,
More frequently as I age.'

'That's crazy.
You can't stop aging.'

'Who says I am trying,
To stop aging?
You just validated,
I'm disguising the effects of it.'

'And you are calling this,
Mental maintenance? '

'Yes.
And less expensive,
Than sweating in a gym.'

'Yeah?
But what about,
Doing squats and leg lifts? '

'No complaints have I yet,
Heard to hear about that!
And besides...
What I do in private,
Is my business.
With the sweating I do,
Free.
And not to pay for it either! '
