Make Me Human! Poem by Suman Kumar Das

Make Me Human!

Rating: 5.0

O’ my Dear!
I am no more human.

I besought handful water
To wet my arid gullet.
But thou drenched my whole body
Showering stream of liquor
And made me daffy drunkard!

I besought a little pen
To scribble carol of love.
But thou taught verse of violence
Putting arms in my hand
And made me brutal butcher!

I besought a pill of patience
To cure my panic in grief, pain.
But thou hybridized genetic DNA
Injecting saline of anger, odium in my blood
And made me merciless mutant!

I besought a lamp of wisdom
To find my way in dark of ignorance.
But thou lit countless covetous candles
Showing lustful dreams in my mind
And made me sinful soul!

O’ my Dear!
My only prayer to thee,
Please make me again ‘Human’.
Only Human!

We can be encouraged to take the wrong path which leads to so many problems but our mistakes makes us human we just need some guidance! Very interesting and great write!

I besought a lamp of wisdom To find my way in dark of ignorance. Favourable lines. Wonderful presentation. Typically emotional and humour is strong within. Wisdom only can bring out from ignorance like darkness. Nice job on sharing such a nice poem.

Suman, I enjoyed this poem - being human implies the capability of being both the angel and the devil, as the Budda taught, find the balance in the golden mean. Somewhere back in grade 4 or 5 I was taught the importance of the 4 As and the impact they have on human development: Affection, Attention, Achievement and Acceptance. Imagine how a Soul would perceive itself without having experienced none of these elements in Its formative years in any lifetime as compared to having received, in good measure, all of these in a given lifetime...a universe of difference! Great write. Cheers!
