Meerkat Mystery Poem by Vijay Sai R

Meerkat Mystery

Heaps of sand
Lying everywhere
Till Persistence of vision
Barren land
Scorching sun
No speck of natural vegetation
Except Here and there
Cacti growth
Thorny bushes
Palm trees
Sometimes tempests
Twisting and swirling
Forming sand dunes
Shifting place to place
In the midst of all these
Sudden appearance
Flocks of Meerkat
So called
Suricata Tetradacta
Each emerging
From their own burrows
Stoic stare
Eyes protruding
As well as Rotating
On all angles
In between time delays
Much similar
To programmed robots
Producing peculiar sounds
Attracting their friends
Synchronous looking
Wonderful species
Viverrine mammal
Found in South Africa
It's upto us
To protect them
Before they become extinct!
