# # Meet Me By The River (The Rendezvous)

Rating: 3.2

Meet me by the river tonight
Just you and me under the pale moonlight
I promise you I won’t be afraid
of the dark

Meet me by the river tonight
Just you and me, the moon and the stars
I promise I will give you my heart
There in the water

Meet me by the river tonight
Where the wind makes the water sigh
Take me to the deepest part
And I’ll show you how brave my heart

Meet me after dark, my love
By that river where they say
A year ago today two lovers drowned

Wow, I thought the third stanza was just to die for, till I read the last two lines. We do meet others who, sometimes, we would be willing to risk it all for, even knowing almost nothing about them, really. This is what I take from this one.

A fine projection of loving heart. The drowning of the lovers must have been in the ocean of ecstasy of union.

The first three stanzas are lovely romantic and mysterious too....but the last two lines left me stunned....the willingness to risk everything - just to be with someone you love....10

Rich with creative suggestion. Reminds me of an old classic movie. The mood is so timeless. Love, SandraX

This has the beauty of simplicity and directness that is the hallmark of good song lyrics. It seems to cry to be sung, don't you think? Have you tried to put it to music? I am just sure this could make a hit in the hands of the right musician. Adding it to my favorites as well.

A powerful conceit about love, Great use of refrain with changes, A fantastic read. The death isn't a death; it's Surender.

a simple honest beauty, its form is like that of a river. There is a gentle flow to the words and occasional eddy to add interest. The last line...aware of the dangers in love and life. I really enjoyed this poem. Reminds me of a mountain ballad.

Such a romantic poem right down to 'The Bard' style ending. Nice write I thought.
