Missing Us Poem by Margarita Cortés

Missing Us

Rating: 5.0

Lying awake in this bed alone,
The more I try, the harder it gets.
I just can't sleep!

Lying here cold, even the blankets
can't warm my body!
I don't wish to just lie here with
anybody.
I want it to be you!

I close my eyes and imagine,
what it was like when we shared a bed!
I reminisce about the things we'd stay up
and talk about, or not talk at all!

Lying in this bed, I wonder do you miss it?
Do you miss lying shoulder to shoulder,
Waking up in the morning knowing I'm there.
Do you miss me?

The nights just go by and I lie in my bed,
cold, alone, wondering, just wondering!

One night turns to three, three turns to eight,
I've lost count lying in this bed.
Lying awake, alone!
