Modus Vivendi Poem by Ernestine Northover

Modus Vivendi

Rating: 4.6

Would you please just hold my hand,
When I cry out for this land,
Where such evil reigns, and hate
Meets a man at his own gate.

And our sadness and our fears,
Come from taunts and from harsh jeers,
As we try hard to convey,
How strong love is, everyday.

We should each smile, when we meet
The populace out on the street,
Then there'd be no need of fright,
Through the day, or through the night.

And joy would be on each face,
Of this whole vast human race,
When a sweet paradise is found,
On this earth's rough battleground.

Would you please just hold my hand,
I know that you will understand,
What I wish for, from the heart of me,
That people could live, modus vivendi.

A nice desire, but unrealistic to expect the whole world to thus behave. It is up to us in each corner of the world to act accordingly - and hope that by our example others will see the way of righteous behavior. Not trying to rain on your poem. To the contrary, the spreading of your sunshine will take place by our own actions, in addition to any of our writings. GOOD CREATION! 10, of course!
