Frozen ice beneath trees
grayish bark shelter moss
fallen leaves for decades
warm roots to life, blanket
makes them healthy for years
faint light from a distant
reflects on silvery lake
a wooden house a sentinel
boat tied by post so calm
only breath of smoke on roof
fox footprints chasing rabbit
could have got away clean
deep in her borough warming
waiting for a chance to eat
those newly sprouted morsels
I rub my hands to wake them
blow it to keep my lungs filled
I pick a black smooth stone
let it skim over sleeping lake
I just erase my dreams format
