More To Be The Is Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

More To Be The Is

More to be the is.
Than what was to be.

An increasing of injustices.
With an equal sharing of disparities.
Diversified and obvious.
Regardless if one declares to be,
Conservative or have liberal ideals.
This melting pot grows hot,
In a place where all the cooks...
Are either incompetent crooks.
Or just fools who disobey laws and rules.
Yet picked to lead.

Few can not say,
They've been immuned from feeling the pinch.
With their pockets being emptied.
Of dollar bills or change to make sense.
More to be the is.
Than what was to be.

Today the flavor of all races,
Have begun to taste,
The effects of poverty.
And conflicts to start them,
Could be stopped by those elite.
But the only prioritized concerns,
They seem to have and keep...
Are themselves to feast exclusively.
Caring less who is left protesting,
A quality of life.
Sliding away from promises made.
More to be the is.
Than what was to be.

Politicians?
Elected officials and lobbyists?
Say they are doing their best.
While speaking from podiums.
Dressed to impress.
More to be the is.
Than what was to be.
When a mess to know it and to see.
Had not been so blatantly flaunted.
To excuse it done by others.
And expected this to be believed.

More to be the is.
Than what was to be,
Truth to know it.
But more today,
Are paying to keep deceived.
Regardless of a life to live,
As the quality of it from them leaves.
With more of this to be the is.
With less as if to accept.
As an expectation to receive and get.
No matter how high the taxes rise!
