Muttering Gems Poem by Edgar Andrade Baguio

Muttering Gems

Rating: 5.0

Hey glittering D, what’s up?
Not much, still feeling forever!
You see, I travelled a lot these days,
From the black soil, to a cube glass
Broken up by some masked gluttons,
Equipped with greed as usual, then
Some geeks in uniform took a heap of us
Straight into their bottomless pockets,
Then we went through a series of inspections
From low, middle, and high class traders
Bargaining here and there, currency upon currency,
Whew! Stone! I am telling you, these humans are
All crazy about me, to possess me, rob me sometimes
But I like it best when some of them wrapped me
For a gift to someone they supposed to love forever!
Only to find out later, that they actually treasure me
More than love, even more than those they professed to love,
No wonder a delightful noise asked one time, “Where Is the Love? ”
Yeah, I thought I heard that one cheered by mixed soils, then?
One thing that really shocked me about these creatures
They have a good book which says: “Where your treasure is,
There will your heart be also”. I don’t know what it means,
Until I witnessed a fair lady marries a clerk and goes out
To every theater in town, then gets back home with new
Sets of us all the time and declare to her man as false gems!
Wow! That’s a cool story forever D! You must be happy, or are you?
You know that we’re not ‘em, are we? And what about you sparkling R?

Well, we have almost all similarities except that I came out mostly
From distant sandy white soils, and most younger creatures
Like me and before they use you, they first try to play with me!
And before each of their men break the innocence of their ladies,
Even after the vows they made as they wear you on their fingers.
Some of them even compared me with their blood and apples,
Except that they can’t chew me to fill their appetites and most of ‘em
Believed that sky is the limit when they promised someone for me,
For almost all put more emphasis on colors and appearance,
And you know most of those endings, right? Like some cycles.

Hmmm! Sorry to interrupt you guys! Can I join your bla! bla! bla!
You see, the creatures below are quiet and sappy of serenity!
Look at me! I just came out fresh from the bottom of the sea!
Wait a minute lustrous P, sparkling R is not yet done you see!
No, I am fine! Come on D, let’s hear a dignified cold stone -
Cherished by noble kings, queens, and kingdoms of no return,
Hey, only when I am home, ok? Here, I am hot and shiny bone!
Wow! So that’s why the humans’ good book said something
Not to throw you to swine, which would only trample you down?
So maybe dogs are cute and fine as they lick anything for nothing!
Whoa! Are you describing those greedy creatures in uniform?
No! Those are like the lucky crocodiles, with lots of tapeworm!
Bwuhahahahahahahaha! ! ! ! Ah! Humanity! Sounds like Vanity!
Wow! Were you worn once upon a time by Melville’s finger?
No, but I heard of Mobydick while my ancestors view beneath
Each passing time, for you and you and me to ask the humans:
“What do you think? ” “Are you all thinking now? ”
“Speaking perhaps? Or still fighting? ” Ooops! ! ! ! ! Ouch! ! ! ! ! ! !
