My Lot In Life Poem by Alessandra Liverani

My Lot In Life

I'm a smoker, you wouldn't comprehend
It's my burden to carry, until the very end
You don't understand why I have to do it all the time
The problem is your lack of understanding, not mine

You can't see the urgency there
You can't see the burden I bear
Why do you fail its critical importance to grasp
Why can't you see that it's something I cannot unclasp

What's wrong with how you think things through
It's plainly obvious it's something I have to do
I've tried to explain it to you as clearly as I can
But no matter what I say, you just don't understand
