My Neverland Poem by Leah Ayliffe

My Neverland

Rating: 3.9

She awoke and her world had changed
No longer was she surrounded by the dull white colour of her bedroom walls, but enveloped in a place of vast green grass and a night sky a blanket of darkness
Yet light was everywhere
The stars did not stay trapped in the skies net but danced freely in the night
They sparkled up and down, left and right
But what caused her heart to quicken was the sight of stars glittering down toward the very floor of the earth
Where she herself could leave footprints for the next dreamer to see they were not alone
Flowers seemed to bloom within the grass below her feet
And trees sprouted tall catching some falling stars as if t'were rain
With each blossomed flower a sparkle seems to float away
Only, she realized, it wasn't a sparkle
It was fairies
Fairies who flew with a movement of natural grace
Each fairy had their own shade of colour to shower the world with
As she took this moment of magic in her vision blurred
A cluster of the winged creatures surrounded her, circling her body
Hugging her with a glow of all the colours of a rainbow
Once they finished and went back to their own ways of soaring and dancing peacefully in the night air, she looked down to find herself wearing an enchanting white gown that gave her the urge to twirl
And twirl she did.
Eyes wide and glistening she began to dance
Everything in this world of beauty was dancing in some form or another
She danced and danced until she almost fell drunk with giggles into a running brook that suddenly appeared
There was a little wooden bridge, connecting land to land over the collected tears that ran with the current
As she looked over its railing she caught her reflection
She beamed with joy; she belonged there
As if they, the mystic creatures and spirits of this place, were waiting for her
As if she always knew it was where she should be
She knew that even if this was just a dream she would believe in it back in her world of reality
Where somehow she felt she would be again soon
And somehow even just having a little bit of faith in a world filled with magic seemed to be enough to carry her through the coldest hour of her distant life
The strength of believing in magic is such a powerful thing to hold.
Sadly most lack the courage or forget its existence
Believe in it enough and its real
It's as simple as that
And she knows this night is real
It's real.

We're on the same page with my latest post. What would our world be without our ability to imagine. Beautiful thoughts.
