Night Poem by Amudipe Opeyemi Marcus

Night

In a far away cosmos
Where the speakers blazed
The drums rattled
At the dawn of the night

I saw Simi's father
Sway like obeche
In the twilight of a storm
His movements, unrhythmically rhythimical

Layo's sister I saw on high
With drumbellied sapeins
Rancorous laughters they echoed
Touches at hideous places they shared

In this wee hours, when few stars
Dazzled from afar, I asked in deep thoughts
Who I'm I to judge the affairs of men
When blood ties are really far afar
