Night Slave Poem by Terence George Craddock (Spectral Images and Images Of Light)

Night Slave

Rating: 5.0

See single solitary scholar
by late burning lamp;
framed halo disk wonder laid,
electricity limitless constant amp.

Knowledge vast in kind
students searching store lore;
studious study appreciates,
in lengthening labour ilk bore.

Once by degrees
ever fading light;
candle brighter danced,
greeting encroaching night.

Once as night
waxed on triumphantly;
damning daily tasks,
were tossed aside pertinently.

Day roars hot
night follows suit;
wage slave workers,
retort to mute.

Reverberation reverie review
industries unhallowed hours;
rhapsodic ribbon rhetoric,
regurgitated deregulated sours.

Daily dusk day ending
labour ending forever gone;
night burns inharmonious ever,
life beat life beat on and on.

See single solitary scholar
by late burning mind lamp;
knowledge vast in courtesy kind,
creativity limitless constant amp.
