No More Poems, Alicia? No Mas? Never Ever, Alicia? Nunca Mas? Poem by Sonya Florentino

No More Poems, Alicia? No Mas? Never Ever, Alicia? Nunca Mas?

Rating: 5.0

Where in the world is Alicia
Who used to post poems on this site
I hope she’s still somewhere in Paraguay

I wonder where she has gone
I wonder if she’s alright
Donde esta? Como esta, Alicia?

I returned to read her poems again
Which I would do from time to time
But today I face a glaring blank page

Has love…has life… killed her passion to write
Por amor, por vida … hasta la muerte
Ha desaparecido... derepente

I wish I saved some of her poems
All I have are my comments to her
“You’re no ordinary woman from Paraguay”
Was the very first thing I told her

I’ve been writing a poem about her
Which I yesterday completed
But today she seems to have disappeared
(I guess she will never read it)

Donde esta? Come esta, Alicia?
No mas? Nunca mas! Su poesia!
Sigue escribiendo todavia, Alicia
Or have you lost your lust for life, Alicia!

I wonder where Alicia is
Has she gone to Wonderland
Wherever that is, wherever she is
I hope she’s doing fine.

What a sweet poem. Perhaps some time Alicia will see it and realize she is being missed and return- just to say hello at least; if not to post more poetry. Such endearing words..how should she be able to resist that? .(smile)

A fitting and compassionate tribute, Sonya. It is a pity that Alicia will never see either of these 2 poems, unless somebody can find her somewhere and persuade her to come back.

Please also read 'No Ordinary Woman from Paraguay' which I wrote before this poem, which I was intending to post until I realized she was no longer in poemhunter. I then had to write this 2nd poem above.

Note: I favorited some of her poems but of course they're gone too. These are my comments to a few of her poems which sadly I don't remember the titles of: 1) Alicia, contrary to what you say, you're no ordinary woman in Paraguay. I know a poem is good when it makes me laugh, smile, cry or in this instance, gives me chills. 2) I'm reading your wonderful poems but it'll take me days so I will read a little at a time. I would like to mention 2 poems you have, the above and Alice in Wonderland. It's interesting how writers seem to write about the same thing but in different ways. If you have the time, read my poems 'A Dream of Alice' and 'Measuring Whales' and you'll see why. 2) You are incredible. Does anyone know what happened to her? Sometimes I think I may have just imagined her (and her poems!)
