I love you like a cliché
I’m not ashamed one bit
If love is a crime, I plead guilty
No, I am not innocent
I have partaken of the forbidden fruit
And I will suffer gladly its poison
I have given my heart to you
I will not love you less
If you return it to me broken
I love you like a cliché
And yes, I am a fool
But love rules
I am not immune to its folly
the inherent infinity of Love, bound by human mind......hence, creating helplessness....a nice poem, sonya....
The world is full of clich'e why should love miss out. This is a fine poem on so many levels. I have never understood the pain involved in love as being a punishment. I wonder how love survives it seems to me there are so many reasons to stay away from it. -----10
Oh, but this poem breathes new life into the term cliché - could it be that you're subverting the meaning. I see hope on the horizon of heart-break! S ;)
An honestly stated and thoroughly enchanting poem about devotion. My first husband had a horror of what he called 'the hollow cliches of romantic love'. Perhaps that is why, after 27 years, I left him for one who wrote me poems. Love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
A genuine example of unconditional love. Fine work, Sonya. Always your friend at poemhunter, Sandra

Come to think of it now; love seems perfect for enclosing cliches within it's bounds. I loved the unusual theme of this poem about love..(smile)
