No One Gives Perfect Love Poem by Leslie Alexis

No One Gives Perfect Love

I have been growing, I have been observing
And of all things observed, I observe love
And I have found that love is perfect,
But no one gives perfect love, for we all look,
We go where our eyes don’t belong, and corrupt
Love… each idle look takes from the best.
And I, I am the man who views the moon
As barren land that would never give fruit
And the sun as a place of turmoil heading to death,
And I, I am the man who likens wisdom and knowledge
To the woman and the man: one by nature has
Demeanor and charm, the other leaves the toilet seat up.
Yea, I have found love is perfect, but no one gives
Perfect love.
