Old Christmas Cards Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Old Christmas Cards

Rating: 5.0

I save old Christmas cards
Each has a beauty with regards
Hidden from sight they fondly stay
It’s such a pity to throw them away

Jolly Santa bringing toys with reindeers in flight
Presents under a tree with colorful glowing lights
Large holly wreaths accented with bright red bows
Baby Jesus in a manger, wrapped in swaddling clothes

Yesterday I found a bounty stored in Ziplocs
The sight turned back the hands on the clock
Holiday scenes reminded me of sharing lives
Especially country images by Currier and Ives

The cards gave greetings from those near and far
Wishing a Merry Christmas from their home to ours
Envelopes were postmarked over a span of many years
Personal messages were attached from those so dear

Touching my heart with words frozen in time and space
Memories of family laughter brought a smile to my face
Feeling a loving embraced within a warm caring sphere…
Once again, I safely put the cards away for another year
