Old Time Rock And Roller By The Name Of Lola Poem by Ted Sheridan

Old Time Rock And Roller By The Name Of Lola

Rating: 5.0

He is just another paranoid schizophrenic who looks in his mirror
and sees his own reflection as a crowd of faceless images;
none of them like him much and he fears their silence.
Holding what he believes is the key to unlocking his fear, he slams
the door to his thoughts and places a chair under the knob;
less anyone be the wiser, there is actually someone at home.
Turning out the lights, he reads deeply into his conspiracy theories
a further betrayal and continuous denial of a hedonistic narcissism
as was portrayed in one or more chapters of his self published novel
by a touring troupe of thespians and their lonely hearts club band
of mop headed Beatle maniacs who cover only songs by the Dave Clark Five;
and just like Manfred Mann flipping a Badfinger, he has nothing left to give….
He is just another paranoid schizophrenic who impersonates Ray Davies
with his perfected rendition of “I’m Not Like Everybody Else”.
