Ololufe Poem by Amore David Olamide

Ololufe

Ololufe

I've taken water from the sea
I've known the source of the salt
I've bathed in the wide lagoon
I've known the art of the ocean.

I've held the aviary of birds
I've known the purity of pigeon
I've stepped out before daybreak
I've known the comfort of the dew

I've seen the shape of the wood
I've known the secrets of Gbedu
I've made an artwork with white chalk
I've known the rites of the egret.

I've learnt the verse of the dirge
I've known the magic of the hunter
I've cracked the shell of the palm fruit
I've known the content of palm oil.

I've taken èkùrò from the footpath
I've known the essence of your smile.
I've tasted the fervor of your kiss
I've known the sweetness of honey.

I've gotten the agbòmòlà leaf
For us to have a fruitful journey
Ololufe jowo sun momi
This our love is eternity.
