Optimism Poem by Bireswar Halder

Optimism

The old tree stands alone beside a thickly crowded street
Once it has been a favoured perch for many a migratory bird
It enjoyed the sweet chirpings in the dawn and the dusk
And it takes joy out of a good bond with all in good and bad times.

The tired passers-by take rest and overhears their gossip
They get energized with charming breezes in scorching sun
It feels pleasures bestowing help to everyone who comes across
As the old tree loves and thinks them as its dear children.

The old tree loses its beauty to ravages of time
It looks like an ugly old lady who has lost everything in life
Not a single leaf attaches with the branches in its bad time
It looks like a dead tree having not even a crane on branches.

It's a seasonal phenomenon as tender leaves will cover it again
The cosmic world runs by its own law of nature all along
Like grief and joy, day and night and loss and gain as usual
Everything happens in a cyclic way - no escape from it.

Dear old man, don't blame others for being alone like an old tree
Don't get depressed as everything is predestined
Be happy for sacrifice of your dear and near ones gone afar
And be optimistic, one day they will repent and come back to you.
