Papa Poem by Standing in the Silence of Your Pain

Papa

Rating: 5.0

You taught me so many things.

You taught me about Jesus’ love,

And how to dance in the rain.

You taught me how the car wash works,

And how to mow the lawn.

You taught me that I’ll never know

The last time that I can say, “I love you.”

You taught me how to watch someone suffer,

How to ease their pain.

How I wanted to be a nurse,

So I could always help sick people like you.

How to fight until the very last breath.

You taught me of a grandfather’s love,

Of how to laugh even though you had died.

How to be happy at your funeral,

To be strong for my family and friends.

You taught me how to watch my Daddy cry.

You taught me life is precious,

Sometimes hard to live.

You taught me how a man should treat me,

To accept nothing less.

How to love everyone

And how to do what’s right.

You taught me how to move on

And to cherish every moment,

To grasp the time we have on earth with both hands.

But most importantly you taught that

Goodbye is not forever.

Goodbye is just for now.
