Perfect To Nothing Poem by Jade Meed

Perfect To Nothing

I love you, I want you, and we belong together.
I love you; we’re perfect, forever and ever.
A hug goodbye, breathe in your smell,
I’ve told you my secrets. I know you won’t tell.
Step out the door, walk to the car,
I miss you and I’m only this far,
1 new message, it’s from you,
‘I already miss you, and I love you too’.

You walk me to the bus,
Don’t even make a fuss.
A mile extra for you to walk,
But you don’t care, at least we can talk.
Talk about each other, talk about friends,
Talk about life, how it changes and bends.
We climb up ‘our tree’ as you named it,
Climb right to the top and talk while we sit.

Later at night, I’m thinking of you,
Wondering if you’re thinking of me too,
My mobile rings, a ring tone just for you,
One of ‘our songs’ that reminds me of you.
4 hours on the phone, listen to your voice,
Loving you is a fact, not a choice.
I can hear you smile, over the line,
I wish I could see it all the time.

When another guy ‘try's something’
You wanna go ‘teach him something’
But you gotta stay calm, don’t worry
Cause out of him and you, you’re the guy for me.
Other guys get close to me without you,
I pull away, cause I’m happy with you.
Nothing they do’s gonna make me want them,
Our relationship’s smooth, ten out of ten.

I love you, I want you, and we belong together,
I love you; we’re perfect, forever and ever.
You’re comforting me; I’m upset and crying,
You’re helping me, you’re really trying.
Then something, somewhere, in your brain goes click,
Suddenly you’re acting like a complete and utter pr**k.
I’m sorry for what I said, it came out wrong,
I can’t handle this, I’m not that strong.
Dot dot dot is all either of us can say,
How did something perfect, end up this way?
