Poems For Ella (Iii) Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

Poems For Ella (Iii)

Verse beautiful must
I chant
verses are verses
yet
they be a song
each verse a song
make it for Ella!
In a hummock soft
sweet Ella of the
ruddy face and eyes
of wonder beauty lies
her eyes be closed
closed for now
yet
when she opens them
the earth and heavens
jump and chant and sing

Wow! You don't tell us about Ella's appearance, age, personality traits, her favorite color, the book she reads, etc. those things are the incidentals, your ELLA series aims only one thing: the impact of Ella in your life. On these poems she is the cause if every effect cited, but she herself remains elusive - to the reader, not to you. This poem begins with you singing her praises, it ends with the universe singing them, and in between Ella merely exists, she doesn't have to do anything but BE. And in her being other things have their being and do things. Ella is some kind of ultimate universal Muse.
