Poet Never Dies Poem by Bireswar Halder

Poet Never Dies

(In memory of Sunil Gangopadhay, famous Indian poet and novelist)
By Bireswar Halder

The pen will no longer move
It gropes for the hand which wielded it
But only an emptiness, the missing hand
The poet will never again sing

How many times the pen was a witness to gems
Which glowed in heart of the millions
Today it is speechless, remains untouchable
It does not believe its master is no more

The poet departs from the world suddenly
Pages awaiting light come to a halt
Many gems set to glint go dark
For readers unveils an elegy

The creative pen spreads message
Of love amongst humanity in the globe
Oh the void you made is permanent
And no one can fill up

The pen silently mourns for you
As all of us mourn all around
You will never die, never fade away
You'll remain in the hearts of all
Oh poet, you are immortal!
