On your neck hangs an ocean pearl
shaded with hints of pink and blue
unshelled, pried open to the world,
its pride of self adorning you.
Chained by gold, its opulent rings
mothered by earths deep precious grain
that never cared to spread its wings
now steals the light from one so vain.
Pride and vanity pave way to one's own destruction! However opulent one may appear at first, eventually all light will fade away and plunge him in darkness! Beautifully and succinctly put!
The pearl's natural beauty outshines the vanity of its wearer. Well done, my Swashbuckling Fellow Poet! :)
Vanity has its own ocean but no pearl. An excellent write. ++10

Ocean of pearls is hung on neck. Pride is adored for a moment. Mother EARTH HAS DEEP LOVE FOR US. Her wings of appreciation are spread. Pearls shine by touch of light. A powerful composition is shared with vivid imagery and imagination...10
