Promises Poem by Taylor Young

Promises

Promises

Promises mean everything to me. I keep all my promises, but once I want someone to keep one to me they break it so carelessly. Right before my eyes, they give me all these lies.

I hide behind a wall of fear. I shelter my feelings from the world, I can no longer just stand here like nothings hurting me. With a knife in my back, and a break in my heart. I can no longer trust another.

The tears I cry, are the words my heart cant say. The tears I cry show all of my real pain. My tears soaked up by my pillow at night.

A pain in my back from all your bogus lies, the pain in my heart from all your goodbyes.

I’m broken in two, my life slipping away. I’m broken in two, my love will never be the same.

I feel you. That's the best I can say. The best compliment I can give to your poetry. Whether that makes you feel better or not. I doubt it. Only time and love does. Something that hasn't quite hit me. Good Luck.
