S Poem by Wes Thompson

S

I saw myself watching her
every time that she shortened the space
between what I wanted
and what I thought I could face
I've got an idea
of where I want to belong
but she leads where I follow
and we pick up the pace
this isn't the first time
that I've drowned in regret
but I can't just stop swimming
because she's out of breath
