Shallow Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Shallow

Anyone who hides behind their religious beliefs.
With this done to perceive,
God has their backs.
Whenever they choose to pass judgement on others.
To demean purposely with vicious verbal attacks.
Are the ones God listens to more
attentively,
Than most.
To know in their hearts,
God is not what is in them first.
That would allow such thoughtless outbursts.
Those aware of 'what' and who God represents.
Can see through those who choose to use God,
As an excuse to charade their shallow self importance.
And sooner or later or maybe not all,
People ungrateful to believe they have no reason to be.
Grateful. Thankful. Thoughtful and blessed
Will experience for themselves,
Who God enables to have abilities.
With faith to keep.
As God decides how people who deceive,
Should be put in their places.
Without words to needlessly exchange.
Especially with those who remain to be shallow.
But claim themselves religious followers of God.
