Should God Sleep Poem by Kenneth Barker

Should God Sleep

To what end would we meet, should the God we know ever sleep?
If he closed his eyes just for one wink, would the lightening flash and the the rains come to water our crops when it's time? Does it really matter, should day or night come or go but; have you really thought, what would happen should God sleep?

Mountains would crumble, and charge the earth, like a bull trapped in a fench.
The winds would cease; even time itself may stand still should God sleep.
The birth of a child would not even exist thus, the finest things of life could not be known, should our God ever sleep.

To what end would we meet, should the God we know ever sleep?
If he rest his head in the locks of his shoulders, would the casualties of life rule while the righteous have no place?

Time spins like a wheel as the cicle of life states its claim, showing no prejudice toward race, color or creed but; have you really thought what would happen should God sleep? The waves of a thousand seas sends laughtr across many open fields. Love ones and friends, even a gentle kiss of kindness from a stranger passing along the way, gives a thought, what we might miss should the God wr know ever sleep.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
In 2008-2009; this poem came to me as I deeply considered the masterary of our creater. We sometime lose focus of who's we are and our purpose of being here. Many times we allow people to absorb the entergy that was meant for our short stay. However; should we gather our remains and focus on the greater matters at hand, we come to adhear, what would become of us Should God Sleep.
