Simplicity's Escape Poem by Elizabeth Sheaffer

Simplicity's Escape

I miss the simplicity of childhood...
Of never worrying about life...
I miss believing that bad things never happen...
I miss that feeling of joy, with no strife...
I miss not caring about failure...
I miss the warmth of a loving embrace...
I miss being able to smile and mean it...
I miss not knowing his face...
I miss having simple friendships that exist
Solely because you truly care...
I miss being able to sleep well at night...
I miss always feeling like I have someone there...
I miss that time when guys were gross...
When I didn't long for you without hope...
I just miss being happy and free
To do with my life as I damn well please...
