Someone Who Pays Attention Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Someone Who Pays Attention

A song of long ago, not ever being opened or sung,
for there is no more love between us, as we walk
away, separating and finding another one to love.

Someone who pays attention to signs of passion
wanting to be fulfilled, but there's no response
coming from your direction.

Loss and sorrow are the only placemats on the table
where once we would sit and talk, holding hands,
loving one another, now all our dreams have died,
never to return to either of us.
