Love can make the young fool blind by its charms
When new love cannot see the surface cracks,
Where an eagerness to please sometimes harms
And two hearts may walk along separate tracks.
They gaze at each other but fail to see.
Only physical beauty holds the eye,
Oh, who knows what the future holds for thee?
Will true love fly off into the night sky?
But remember when we were young lovers
And Cupid’s eye watched over our two hearts
How we used to laugh at all the others
And with love showing its many true parts.
We all make mistakes and love can be blind
You must have true love, a true state of mind.
Nice write. Yes, true love is the state of the mind. Thanks for sharing
A great poem and so true, when I first met my partner I had a six pack many years later' I still have a six pack, I just can't find it.
A brilliant Sonnet with a beautiful message, David! Enjoyed!
Simply beautiful sonnet to say you must have true love.
Aww yes, David - the course of true love never runs smooth - for many that blind eye can only hurt - we must look at our relationships with our hearts and our minds and work hard on them always - because if it is true love - then it is worth the effort..
Enjoyed this sonnet, David. At times Cupid's aim is slightly off.
