Still I Stand Poem by Oladimeji tobi sam

Still I Stand

Their teeth get washed by my slandering and my condemnation never out of their mouth
my personality is their concern my life style their headache
on their begging their gods for my demise
even at my stumbling they throw feast

Great is their sadness when i smile
they cursed their gods when am honored
they can part with their treasure just to see me hurt
bitterness flourish in their mind like a morning bloom
with no fault they hewed my tree
with no cause they flood my yard

still i stand
like a chameleon i changed from glory
to Zion i trekked on gold-ring
like the sun i shone at noon like the star i sparkled at night
unto me their homage is payed
upon my chest rest their medals

still i stand
in their slandering lied my courage
out of their condemnation came my strength
in the wind i soared like eagle
in the rain i clapped like thunder
at my wealth they shout ' how come? '
at their surprise sprang my joy
