Survive Poem by Angela McCrimmon

Survive

Rating: 5.0

I won't pretend that I don't care because I care beyond belief
I won't pretend that I'm okay because I'm lost amidst the grief,
I won't pretend it's easy because it's hard to be alive,
I won't pretend it doesn't hurt...but you know what? ...I'll survive!

I won't pretend that I am happy because I know that I feel sad,
I won't pretend that I'm 'together' because I feel like I've gone mad,
I won't pretend I'm motivated because I know I've lost my drive,
I won't pretend that I'm not bruised...but you know what? ...I'll survive!

I won't pretend that I'm not angry because I know inside I am,
I won't pretend I can't forgive because I know inside I can,
I won't pretend I respect you for my respect has all but died,
I won't pretend it doesn't hurt...but you know what? ...I'll survive!

You fuse multiple emotions in your poem and finally end it on a strong note 'I'll survive' - something runs as a refrain throughout the poem.. A very well written poem Angela.. Thank you...

To be true to one's own self is a great achievement. It gives respite from many a woos and saves one from a number of blues. Wonderful poem. enjoyed reading. Thanks for sharing.10 points.
