Take Me Back To The Old Ruin Poem by Kuda Bondamakara

Take Me Back To The Old Ruin

Rating: 5.0

Take me back to the old ruin
That lies bereft and desolate;
Where good was worth doing
And dignity stood resolute.

Take me back to the old time;
That's buried in layers of waste;
Where indolence was a crime;
And people valued hard work;

Take me back to an older century;
That now lies hidden and forgotten
Where honour rose above treachery
And men loathed wealth ill-gotten.

Take me back to the old city massacred
That now lies in distant memories
Where marriage vows remained sacred
And people knew the boundaries.

Take me back to time immemorial
Days that now seem too far away
Where men shunned what's immoral
And the fear of God led all the way.

Take me back to many years ago;
When the stars never stopped shining
And gold could not prize heart and soul
Failure being more honourable than cheating.
